Colleen Channick, MD,  grew up in Southern California.  After receiving her medical school education at Harvard Medical School, she completed a residency in internal medicine, fellowship training in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, and advanced training in Interventional Pulmonology at UCSD Medical Center.  In 2004 she became the Director of Interventional Pulmonology at UCSD Medical Center and served in this role until she was recruited to Massachusetts General Hospital in 2009 to establish and direct the Interventional Pulmonary Program. She has been very active in medical student, resident, and fellow education.  While at MGH she started the Interventional Pulmonary Fellowship and served as the Site-Director for the Beth Israel Deaconess-Massachusetts General Hospital Interventional Pulmonary Fellowship for 5 years.  Dr. Channick was recently recruited to The David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA where she will serve as the Director of Interventional Pulmonary at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center.

She has been involved in a number of research projects evaluating new bronchoscopic technologies, including a bioabsorbable airway stent, and the minimally invasive diagnosis thoracic malignancy using a novel technology, optical frequency domain imaging.  She has also had the opportunity to work with several medical technology companies as they design new products for managing central airway disease and diagnosis of pulmonary disease.  Through her work with the American Thoracic Society, the American College of Chest Physicians, and the American Association of Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology, she has been involved in the education of providers locally, nationally, and internationally.  As the Chair of the American Thoracic Society Education Committee’s Pulmonary Core Curriculum, she has had the opportunity to design, implement, and evaluate educational activities and products as well as publish articles in various areas including simulation-based education in pulmonary and critical care medicine.
