Dr.  Mark Edwin, MD,  is a consultant at the Center for Palliative Medicine at Mayo Clinic in Arizona.    He completed his medical school training at McGill University in Montreal followed by a residency in internal medicine at Mayo Clinic in Rochester.   The following year, Dr. Edwin worked as the chief resident in internal medicine at Mayo Clinic in Arizona.  He joined the staff at Mayo in 1996 and had worked as a hospitalist until 2005 when he joined a colleague in the development of the Center for Palliative Medicine.     He now works full-time within the center.    He is the founding chair for the Center for Humanities in Medicine as well as the chair for the Ethics Consultation Service at Mayo.

Academically, one of Dr. Edwin’s current areas of interest is the utilization of pharmacogenomics data in assisting clinicians in symptom management of palliative care patients.  

On a personal level, Dr. Edwin is father to two teenage children, both of whom are interested in pursuing careers in the field of medicine.
